Leavitt Area High School Key Club Chartered!
APRIL 2, 2008
It’s official! The Leavitt High School Key Club in Turner received their charter the evening of March 25, 2008. Congratulations! It has been fun to see them actively involved in their community since last September, and pleasing to see their efforts rewarded. The high school serves students from the towns of Turner, Leeds and Greene. There were dignitaries from each town, from the school board, and the school administration. There were reporters and photographers from area newspapers. Lewiston High School Key Club and our own club were well represented too.
Club events. Last weekend, we participated in the Bowl For Kids Sake. This is a fundraiser for the local Big Brothers- Big Sisters. This is a great organization, worthy of our support, and we had fun too.
The Scholarship Committee is set to review applications real soon. If you know of a senior at Edward Little High School, Leavitt Area High School, Lewiston High School, or St. Dominic’s Regional High School, encourage them to do so today. We will be giving out four $750 scholarships.
The Pancake Breakfast Committee has started its work. The major tasks have been assigned, and things are shaping up well. The breakfast will be Sunday, June 8. The kickoff will be April 23.
We rescued our bell from the Augusta Kiwanis Club! It was a good interclub on March 13. Now if only President John can remember to bring it to our meetings!
District events. We were pleased to host Lt. Governor Patricia Stevens at our meeting on March 26. It was good to meet with her, and to hear the happenings in our Division and the District.
The Rockland Kiwanis Club will be hosting the Governor-Elect of the New England District, on April 21 at Noon. This is a very special event, so lets make an extra effort to have an interclub. We need only three members for an interclub.
The Standish Kiwanis Club will be having an 80th Birthday celebration this August. They plan to have an afternoon of fun and games. Since they own their own beach, what better way is there to spend a summer day?

Speakers. Do you have an idea for a speaker? Someone you have heard before, someone you don’t know much about, someone connected with a new project in the area? You don’t have to know them, just get their contact information to Roy Ulrickson at roy@neokraft.com. If you think they would be interesting, chances are good that the other club members will agree.
