Kiwanis Club of Auburn Lewiston – Newsletter for June 2007
JUNE 27, 2007 SUMMER MEETINGS
We will have a new meeting schedule for the summer. We will meet: July 11, July 25, August 8, August 22. Mark your calendars.
We will meet weekly again, starting September 5th.
RECENT SPEAKERS
We have had some interesting speakers recently. On June 6, Auburn Mayor John Jenkins spoke about our motto We Build, creating an acronym:
Build, Understanding, Inspire others, Listen, Direction.
On June 13, we had Kelsey Jewell, the new Executive Director for the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce. She spoke about her many years of involvement in Seeds of Peace. She pointed out that they are always looking for Maine teens to help host the camp sessions in Otisfield, as well as attend camp sessions. Know anyone interested? Contact Leslie Lewin at leslie@seedsofpeace.org.
Then on June 20, we heard from the Executive Director of LA Arts, Andrew Harris. Now HE’S an energetic speaker!
If you didn’t make these meetings, you missed out on informative and entertaining talks. Don’t miss out again!
SUPPORT A DESERVING CHILD
The Board of Directors received a request from a middle school young lady. Her name is Mallory Morneau. She wishes to attend a People-To-People conference in Washington, DC. This is an excellent opportunity for her to get out in the wide world and meet others her age from different backgrounds, and build understanding.
If you wish to support her, take your returnable bottles to Florian’s Market, Main Street, Auburn, and ask the employees to credit her account.
Thought for today: If you want happiness for a lifetime, help the next generation. Uncle Andy’s Digest.
